Safe and Secure Parking for Durham Royal Maundy Service

King Charles III and Queen Camila are set to attend the Royal Maundy Service at Durham Cathedral on Thursday, 17th April 2025.

Members of the public are free to gather on Palace Green and in the Market Place to get the best views of Their Majesties as their motorcade passes.

Anyone wishing to watch is encouraged to be in position by 9:30am.

With expected crowds, traffic and road closures, plan ahead by opting for safe, secure and central car parking at Prince Bishops Place car park.

Our 400-space, multi-storey car park opens daily from 6:00am – 12:00am, ensuring plenty of time to secure your space for the busy day ahead!

With 22 accessible bays and 6 EV charging bays, parking in the heart of Durham couldn’t be easier.

Durham Royal Maundy Service

This historic event, last held in Durham in 1967, will see His Majesty present specially-minted Maundy money to 152 deserving recipients, recognising their exceptional service to their communities. This year, recipients from the Diocese of Durham, the Province of York, Wales, and Scotland will be honored.
