Lumiere restricted access update
As part of the Lumiere festival in Durham City Centre, and for the safety of visitors and shoppers alike, there are a number of restricted areas and routes into and out of Prince Bishops Place.
Car Park Access During Lumiere
The Prince Bishops Place car park remains open as normal throughout the days and evenings of Lumiere, but with pedestrian access restrictions in place.
Between 3pm – 11pm on Lumiere event days, Visitors to Prince Bishops Place car park will not be able to access the high street through the car park lifts or main staircase. Instead, Lumiere’s Stewards will direct you into the City via an alternative route from the car pack exiting onto Elvet Bridge.
Toilets Access During Lumiere
The Prince Bishops Place public toilets will be open as normal throughout the days and evenings of Lumiere. These will be accessible via the vennel corridor between TJ Hughes and Superdrug.
Please be advised for the safety of visitors and shoppers, a one-way no-return access system will be in place between 3pm – 11pm on Lumiere event days.
If you visit the toilets, you cannot return to the high street the same way. Lumiere stewards will direct you to the festival ticketed entry points.
Accessible Access During Lumiere
Access within the car park and throughout Prince Bishops Place is via the normal routes for individuals and parties with additional accessible requirements.
Customers of Shopmobility will still be able to access their services in the usual way during Lumiere.
