However, with its hills and cobbles, it can be a tricky place to navigate, especially for those with mobility and accessibility issues. Enter Shopmobility.
Assisting Durham’s Visitors & Residents
Based in Prince Bishops Place (Level 1 of the car park), they have over 25 years experience of helping people in Durham.
Local and independent, Shopmobility is a scheme which hires out mobility solutions including motorised scooters and manually operated and power assisted wheelchairs to assist in making Durham City and County Durham an accessible place to visit, enjoy and shop.
Shopmobility Services
Durham City Shopmobility offer a range of physical services to assist those with mobility issues. Including the hire of:
- Scooters
- Electric and manual wheelchairs
- Rollators
- Walking frames
- Crutches
In addition, they also:
- provide freedom from reduced mobility
- offer support and advice on mobility issues
- arrange excursions and trips
- are piloting a wheelchair maintenance and repair service.
