Prince Bishops Place, Durham was built in 1998 after the demolition of the infamous concrete multi-storey car park in Leazes Bowl. For over twenty years on Prince Bishops Place, located right in the heart of Durham, remains the city’s premier shopping venue.
With over 40 leading retailers, including: Next, Monsoon, New Look, Boots and Superdrug, Pandora and Clarks, along with a range of unique boutiques, this open-air shopping centre is a key part of any visit to the city.
It’s the perfect place to pick up hot fashion fixes, gadgets, health and beauty products, and homeware. You can even get a stylish new hairdo, or take a break and have a coffee (or a cocktail!) and a snack. To see the shopping centre directory, click here.
What’s more, its award-winning car park has space for over 400 cars and makes an ideal base when visiting Durham.
Each year Prince Bishops Place, Durham, with the help of the public, selects a local charity to work with for twelve months. Through events and other initiatives, the aim is to raise the profile of the selected charity. One of the requirements is that the charity won’t already receive a lot of support or funding.
Prince Bishops Place, Durham management and security team have organised a number of events in order to raise awareness and funds for the charity including a sponsored abseil, a fun day, a row-a-thon and a bike-a-thon. Additionally, the charity was given free advertising space in the shopping centre magazine, Pulse as well as on site advertising to raise awareness.
Prince Bishops Place, Durham are the official sponsors of Durham City 5K and 10K Run. The event will take place on Thursday 15th July 2021 (subject to current coronavirus-related restrictions being lifted at an appropriate time).
