</u>This incredible art piece featuring around 4,000 coloured paper peace cranes will be on display in the window of<u><a class="PrimaryLink BaseLink" href="https://princebishopsplace.co.uk/berties-play-barn/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Bertie’s Play Village</a></u> at Prince Bishops Place from the <strong>18th of March</strong> until <strong>mid-April.</strong> <u></u></h3>

What is the Peace Crane Project?</strong></p>
<p>The <a href="https://internationaldurham.com/2024/01/23/peace-crane-project/">Peace Crane Project</a> asked pupils in the North East and in their worldwide partner schools to create colourful peace cranes which will be displayed as part of the art installation. Students were invited to fold an origami crane, write a message of peace on its wings and exchange it with another student somewhere else in the world.</p>
<div class="TypographyPresentation TypographyPresentation--m RichText3-paragraph--withVSpacingNormal RichText3-paragraph">This incredible project encourages friendships and exposes students to new languages and cultures. It also strengthens hand-eye coordination, writing skills, and most importantly, empowers young individuals to make a difference in their community, country and in the world.</div>
<div class="TypographyPresentation TypographyPresentation--m RichText3-paragraph--withVSpacingNormal RichText3-paragraph">Allowing young people to have a voice and to gather together thousands of origami cranes as a symbol of the children’s call to live in a peaceful world.</div>

<p><span style="font-size: 16px;">The art installation is being curated by artist, JO Shippen, originally from the North East, JO is renowned for her window displays and retail concepts. The display will be available to view from <strong>18th March to 15th April in Durham</strong>, after which a selection of the peace cranes will be sent to the </span><a style="font-size: 16px;" href="https://www.city.hiroshima.lg.jp/site/english/158105.html">Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum</a><span style="font-size: 16px;"> in Japan and be added to the children’s peace memorial.</span><strong><br />
